Collective Effervescence

Commissioned by Tech Pointe II at Louisiana Tech University
Collaboration with Whitney Causey

This large-scale painting was commissioned for the main conference room of Tech Pointe II, a research and innovation hub on Louisiana Tech University’s campus. Inspired by the building’s function as a space where ideas take root and evolve, we approached the design as a visual terrarium—an environment that nurtures growth, possibility, and transformation.

The composition integrates forms drawn from both the natural and technological world: silhouetted native flora, refracted light, synaptic bubbles, and luminous color fields that reflect and extend the architectural features of the space. The concept of the bubble—ephemeral, playful, and reflective—became a central metaphor, symbolizing the fragility and brilliance of ideas in development.

Titled Collective Effervescence, the work draws on sociologist Émile Durkheim’s term for the shared emotional energy that arises in moments of collective awe. We hope this piece resonates as both a mirror and a container—a space for contemplation, curiosity, and connection within the broader spirit of innovation that defines Tech Pointe II.
